This was a trip with problems. I already knew the trip between Hellevassbu and Litlos that I had problems with meniscus injury I had 3 years ago. The trip from Litlos to Hadlaskard and Hedlo was not good. I could not go down without pain, but it was OK to go up. Had luckily with me a support bandage for the knee that had been in the bag for 3 years. It helped a lot. When I arrived at Liseth houses on Sunday was my left knee almost twice as thick as the other.
It was now not possible to go to Rembedalseter and Finse. I would not destroy the knee completely. This was a disappointment when I got the nice weather and were in good shape. Was otherwise happy to have come full up to the road.
I would not go so fast between Hellevassbu and Litlos. I wanted to show how fast I could go. It was enough just stupid of an old man. I think I have learned by now.
I had a while seen the weather on the Hardangervidda. It was not cheerful reading. On YR.no it was just nice weather Thursday and the rest rain, while the Storm had a few days of stay and the sun. Took the bus from Oslo at. 9:30 and arrived at Haukeliseter at 3:10 p.m. on Wednesday 17 August.
Day 1. Thursday August 18. From Haukeliseter to Hellevassbu.
The weather was fine and I started at 8:40 on Thursday. Pretty steep at first. Since there was a lot of up and down. The valleys were much across the path, but nice scenery to go. It was hot to go, so I did not have to go with the jacket.
I sat up at the tiny Nup and ate. Here I had a nice view back toward Ståvatn. I was passed by three Danes, but I passed them since.
There are lovely mountain on the side of the trail. Not very high, but fine.
Many think of the flat landscape when talking about Hardangervidda, but on this trip is not much flat landscape. It may look like Jotunheimen without the big mountains. Passing Mannevatn on the left hand.
Coming to Holmasjøen at. 12:30. A nice water with islands.
It was not a swamp on this stretch, so it was very good to go. Very varied landscape, and there was a mountain range on the west side of the trail in a long time. Nupseggi.
Have a nice view back where I came.
Coming to Dyredokk that is a little marshy party, but I'll go around it on the east side.
Passing Simletindvatnet approx. at. 14:00 and goes upward along Simleøyra.
Viewing Hellervatnet and Hellevassbu at 15:00, and arrive at Hellevassbu at 3:28 p.m..
This was a nice day. Beautiful weather and dry and good to go.
There were two house guards from Denmark on Hellevassbu. Nice people. I got a room with three ladies.
I lay on the grass outside the hut at 19:00 at night and sunning myself, so it was really a lovely. weather. I made me stew for dinner and took something that lunch the next day.
Day 2. Friday, August 19. From Hellevassbu to Litlos
Starting from Hellevassbu at 8:10 in the morning. It is approx. 10 degrees hot and dry weather
Starting with 2 from Odda. I let them start before me because they are faster than me to go.
Going up Buadalen, and it goes up a good bit. I hang out with the 2 from Odda pretty good.
Have a nice view back toward Hellevassbu.
I'm going to a rock pile that is a bit poorly marked, but it goes well. Passing Sigritjøni approx. at 09:30. The terrain here is good to go.
At 12:00 I'm going to Southern Belebotn. Here is the 2 from Odda and eat. I walk past them and I increase the speed slightly. It is a very nice landscape here.
Coming to the bridge over Kvenno which flows into the Kvennsjøen, and here it starts to rain a lot. Must switch camera.
After the bridge that goes up the side of Blikkhalsen. This is also the path separator to Middalsbu. Here I get a period where I'm very tired
At the top you can see Litlos lake and Litlos there. There is still 1 hour to go, but it was a lovely sight.
Going along the water before I get to the bridge over Skavassbekken. As I walk along the water, I know that I have a problem with my knee. Jeg should have slowed down the pace.
Is arrived at the lodge at 13:00. Do me a nice room and it was delicious with a shower and a cold beer. I managed almost a shower before the two of Odda came to the cabin. The cabin was nicely with views to Litlos lake.
A while after we saw approx. 50 reindeer that were swimming over Litlos lake. They were too far away to take pictures of them. Tomorrow begins reindeer hunting.
This was a nice house with friendly staff and great food
Day 3.Saturday, August 20. From Litlos to Hadlaskard
Starts to walk towards Hadlaskard at 8:40.
Will go on Hårteigen. This route is longer, but I would like to pass it.
There are good views back toward Litlos lake.
Can almost see Hårteigen, but it is far to go there. After an hour passed me by one who should be inward to fishing. He tells me that it is 49 years since he was here at Litlos and caught the first time. This year he has received many trout of 500 - 600 grams. He would go to Grøndalsvatni and try there
It is also much fine mountain flowers along the path. Almost as Trollheimen
I know that the knee is not functioning properly. It is not good. Note also that day's form is not like yesterday. But it tends to correct itself.
Passing Grytevatni and sit and eat on Grytenuten at 12:00. Samples also mobile, but there were no tire research here.
Before I went in a riverbed that was poorly marked. The trail was completely gone but no red markings. But I looked at the GPS that I was right. Was promotion of Hårteigen at 12:38. An impressive rock. There was nothing for me to go to the top.
Sit down to eat before the descent down Smøygdalen. Here comes the 4 ladies who will try to go to the top of the mountain. It will not be easy, as it begins to blow something terrible and the rain buckets down. It gets very cold, and I'm cold on the fingers
After coming down Smøygdalen it becomes a little warmer and the wind is so strong. Coming down to the Viersdalen, may soon see Hadlaskard far away.
Passing the bridge there and have arrived at the lodge at 16:00. I hit the guard house, a nice lady. I get assigned a room, but sit outside and wonder if I should go on to Hedlo
I still have not completely turned from me to go from Liseth to Remberdalshytta on 2 days. Therefore, I will not go 25km on the last day before Liseth.
Day 3. Saturday, August 20. From Hadlaskard to Hedlo
I decide and go on at 4:17 p.m. at Hedlo
The trail goes over the mountain and not on Hadlaskardmyrane. There is an increase of approx. 160m. The trail is good to go. Here is also the path down from Besso. Down to Hedlo it was very good to go. Only the rocks down the whole way. But it was not for me with my knee. Normally I like to go on the rocks, but not today. Going along the river Veig the last piece down to the cabin.
Was down by Hedlo at 6:40 p.m. Was not very tired, but my knee was not good.
Got me a room and took a shower before dinner. The room and the food was OK. It was just a German couple in the cabin, so there are not many here.
And I understand when I get my bill the next day.
Dag 4. Sunday 21 august. Fra Hedlo til Liset pensjonat
I got a little chin drop when I got the bill here. It cost 975 kroner. For lodging, dinner, breakfast and 2 slices of bread for lunch. They are betting that you will never return here. There was no hotel here.
Starting at 8:40 to go against Liseth. I have put on the support bandage on the knee. But it hurts on the first step.
The first kilometer is flat but very rocky. It is painful to walk. So it is good to go up against Kjeseshovden.
After 1 hour I will come to Fljotdalen. Here is the path to share. I had drawn on the GPS that I should go down to Djupsgili, but I decided to go the quickest way of Fljotdalsfjellet down to Betastølen.
By stiskille I met a nice German who had been lying in a tent here and he started to go for a while after me.
It was a really rise up against Skrubbhamrane and Fljotdalsfjellet, but it was OK to go up. The German reached me and we walk together on.
On top of the mountain can you look down on Berastølen and the valley there. Is down on the farm at 11:10
The German pair from Hedlo are here too. It is a very muddy path towards Hadler. Up there you can see way the down at Sysendalen. I can also see Sysenvannet, which actually goes almost down to the road. Has passed the water before, on trips from Kjeldebu.
It is 5 kilometers to go, and I call my wife and say I'm down for approx. 1 hour. The path from Hallingehaugane and Høloksli down to Fetafossen would normally be very nice and quickly go. Just down on the rocks.
But with the rain and slippery rocks, it was a nightmare to go down there. Had the very problems with the leg and went largely outside the path of penance bog down. Was afraid I would fall and get twisting on the leg. My German companion did not like the slippery rocks
Was very happy when I came down to the bridge over Bjoreio and the road.
It was approx. 1.3 km to go to Liseth. Was there at 2:50 p.m.. Got me a room and had taken a long-awaited shower. My German companion went on by bus to Odda. He would take the bus to ferry to the Germany.
I ate a good dinner and breakfast at Liseth. The room here was very nice. On the whole this was a nice place to stay and eat for those who will go to the mountains. Nice people and affordable, it was also here.
The next morning I took the bus to Geilo and train from there to Oslo. I was very sorry that I could not take the last stretch to Finse. I had really looked forward to it. But I was glad I got to the road, so they not had to bring me down from the mountain.
Hope the leg is good again, and plans for the first trip next year will be from Liseth houses to Rembedalseter, Finse, Raggsteinsdalen and Haugastøl. If my health holds!
This has otherwise been a nice ride very nice countryside to walk in. Low marsh and varied scenery. Very well marked, it was too. Hellevassbu and Litlos was very nice cabins to stay in. Hadleskard also very nice. Had been told in advance that the guard hut where made fresh rolls.
A line was special. It was between Litlos and Hårteigen. It is rare to see so many different mountain flowers
The weather has been useful, but not as bad as YR.no showed. Storm had the most appropriate weather.
I think very many people will be in the mountains looking at long-term forecasts from yr.no. They predict mostly bad weather and rain on their long-term forecasts. I'm getting old so I have also begun to look at the weather before I leave. But I see most of Storm's weather forecast. Why reported rain one day it comes 0.3 mm of rain?
